Nov 13 2006 | By: Niklas Forsberg (Kungälv, Sweden)

Legendary synthpop act Boytronic will unleash their new album "Dependence" in less than two weeks (November 24), on Major Records.

As reported before, Holger Wobker will not be joined by Hayo Panarinfo on this album (he did on the last Boytronic album "Autotunes", but now runs the Major Records label), but has recruited two new band members. Four full tracks off the new album can be sampled here.

25 years In the Nursery

Nov 13 2006 | By: Mattias Huss (Uppsala, Sweden)

The new studio album by In the Nursery will be called "Era" and reportedly deals with architecture, urban decay and regeneration.

The two tracks currently available for press use sound like business as usual; atmospheric and orchestral electronica with a touch of snare drums and Dolores Marguerite C. manning the microphone. Also doing vocal duties is singer/songwriter Sarah Jay Hawley, who appeared on Massive Attack's "Mezzanine".

The album marks the 25 year anniversary of the Humberstone brothers' band and is released on January 15, 2007.

New album due from Batcave legends

Nov 13 2006 | By: Peter Marks (Portland, Oregon, USA)

For all Release readers who never get surprised, here's one which will do the trick. 1980:s Soho phenoms Specimen are due to release a new album in 2007. Details of this new work, the first since the band's farewell debut EP "Specimen" in 1983 are being kept under wraps.

Specimen, along with Alien Sex Fiend, created in 1982 a club of singular vision in London's Soho district called The Batcave. Indeed, ASF's first show ever was played upon the club's somewhat dimunitive stage. Sire Records, of all labels, put out Specimen's only EP which contained classic songs like "The Beauty of Poison", "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" and perhaps their finest title "Returning from a Journey".

The band spent their final two years sporadically releasing compilation tracks before simply vanishing in 1985. Rumours of a re-united Specimen have been the stuff of, literally, legend. We will post more news as it becomes available.

New EP with Front Line Assembly

Nov 9 2006 | By: Johan Carlsson (Stockholm, Sweden)

Front Line Assembly’s drummer Adrian White recently posted on his myspace about working on a new song for a new FLA EP. Not much is known about it, except that it will also include remixes by Rhys Fulber and some other names we might know.

FLA have just finished a successful tour of Europe where they played sold out venues. The band is now working out the “make up” tour of US, since the last attempt to play there was foiled by a tour bus company.

More details as we get it.

Ever-prolific musician/writer/madman Nick Cave has recently formed a new band with fellow Bad Seeds Warren Ellis, Martyn Casey and Jim Sclavunous called Grinderman. Their sound is billed as, get this, "garage" and they are slated to release their debut album on Mute although no release date has as of yet been announced.

Currently, Grinderman have one song, "No Pussy Blues" up for the public to get wind of on their myspace.

Controversial Nephilim set out now

Nov 3 2006 | By: Peter Marks (Portland, Oregon, USA)

"Genesis & Revelation" (Jungle) is now out and in response to Carl McCoy, the label has issued the following statement:

"We wouldn't normally comment, but - someone ('where facts are real') has announced that the entire band won't benefit from this release. As that's not true, we are forced to refute it! Band-members that have taken advances against royalties (in this case Carl & Tony) will earn when those advances have been recouped. Those that haven't (Nod & Paul for example) will earn from it immediately. All the band members will earn from publishing royalties. And we're sure that the release will also benefit the band by stirring up fond memories and re-emphasising what a great band they were."

This three disc release contains several rarities and features perhaps the only evidence to emerge from the ill-fated original line-up's reunion in 1997: a track named "Deeper Deepest Dub". Another disc is filled with the band's last live performance at the Roskilde Festival in 2000, and topping it off, the third piece, a DVD no less, contains various live footage of the band throughout the years and an interview with Carl McCoy and Tony Pettit which dates from 1998.

Two weeks ago we published another News piece on Fields of the Nephilim.
