Eins, zwei, drei... "Sieben"

Nov 12 2007 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden)

More aggressive than ever, Berlin trio Agonoize has just returned with "Sieben" on Out of Line. We're talking about club-friendly hard rhythms and fat bass sounds. Agonoize emphasize that they don't want to be taken too seriously; that's good to hear.

The club hit "Koprolalie" is included. The limited edition 3CD edition contains a sticker, a photo card and a bonus CD shaped like the Agonoize logo with three versions of the song "Femme Fatale".

We have heard new Nitzer Ebb song "Once You See" live this autumn, but now we learn that Martin Gore has provided backing vocals. The unreleased song was apparently aired by Dave Clarke on Dutch VPRO in a Sonar broadcast on June 16 (!). Listen here (it's quite early in the "uur 1" file).

In a move that caught us in mid-yawn, Wayne Hussey has announced that the Mission UK are due to disband after playing a series of farewell live shows in the their home country.

Formed in 1986 after their departure from The Sisters of Mercy (and being denied the usage of the name Sisterhood), The Mission UK have by turns released both riveting ("God's Own Medicine", "Children", "Grains of Sand", "The First Chapter", "Blue") and completely forgettable albums (pretty much everything else and most notably 1992's "Masque").

Mr. Hussey (born Jerry Lovelock) says he plans to try something new in 2008 and wishes all his bandmates, past and present well. This of course is not the first time the band have planned to implode, after the release of 1996's stellar album "Blue", Hussey and company were silent for a number of years and re-formed in 1999.

“Bodypop 1 ½”, a cover album from And One, will be released on December 7.

Steve Naghavi, the singer and main songwriter of the band, was worried about the young listeners of electronic music not recognizing the most essential classics within the genre and decided to do something about it.

The album will contain covers on Depeche Mode, Front 242, DAF, Nitzer Ebb and The Cure. As a bonus we also get two extra covers recorded live and a video of “Steine sind Steine”.

Aaron Sutcliffe returns with salute to The Beatles

Nov 2 2007 | By: Tobias Eliasson (Gothenburg, Sweden)

Johan Malmgren (S.P.O.C.K, ex-Elegant Machinery) has returned with his cover project Aaron Sutcliffe. Back in 2002 he released “Last Train to Salinas” - an album where Malmgren gave a salute to Elvis Presley by recording some of his songs in a more electronic setting. Back then Eskil Simonsson of Covenant joined him both in the studio and on stage.

The new album is called “Wavertree” and this time he honours The Beatles, which is logical considering the name Aaron Sutcliffe (Stuart Sutcliffe was The Beatles "fifth member" and he and John Lennon came up with the band name The Beatles).

To begin with, "Wavertree" will only be available as a digital download album and together with the single “Got to Get You into My Life” it will be released by Subspace Communications.
