Orbital to reform

November 28, 2008 | By: Mike Whyte (London, UK)

Seminal electronic music pioneers Orbital are to headline The Big Chill 2009, with the Hartnoll brothers reforming for what will be their first live show together in more than five years.

The festival, which will be held between August 7 and 9 next year, promises to be a fine event, with the Orbital boys having provided some of the greatest live electronic sets in recent memory, especially on the festival stage.

Although little is known about what they intend to play in their set, it should be fair to guess that there will be room for some of their classics, namely "Belfast", "Chime" and "The Box". It is also pretty sure to guess that we will see the return of the famed "torch glasses", implements which were highlighted in arguably their greatest performances, the now legendary Glastonbury sets.

Expect much more to come from this event as the other acts slowly get announced.

Leather Strip plan for concerts

November 26, 2008 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden)

We organised one of few live concerts with Danish EBM project Leather Strip in the mid-90:s. We brought Claus Larsen and his crew over from Aalborg not far from Gothenburg. After years off the roads, Claus Larsen is finally considering playing live again in 2009, on smaller venues, starting with one show in Denmark.

– I need to do it on my terms totally because of my health issues. I will perform all I possibly can live and I will also involve some improvisation and stuff, because most of my songs are very vocal orientated, then I need focus on that with the "normal" songs. No theater, just pure EBM, he says.

Larsen was surprised to be given a Danish Golem Award in Odense, five days ago. See video here.
