Jabberwock for NIN and Aphex Twin fans?

December 12, 2008 | By: Mike Whyte (London, UK)

Electrorock band Jabberwock have just announced the release of their second album. Taking in different aspects of the electro range, Jabberwock lie towards the harder end of the electronic spectrum. This means if you like the idea of a band who seem to remind of such acts as NIN, Ministry and Aphex Twin, perhaps you should read on.

With such great titles as "Brainbondage", "Le Freak" and "Chicken", if its hard, pulsating beats and screaming guitars that get you going, alongside distorted female vocals and electro noises, you should look no further than this four-piece of noise merchants. The second album was released on December 5 via Black Rain.

December 11, 2008 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden)

DAF and Klinik will not come to Gothenburg on February 21 as planned (reason unknown). We broke the news a while back after reading the announcement in German booker WOD's November newsletter and we doublechecked directly with WOD to be sure.

DAF and Klinik were also supposed to headline the Stockholm Tinitus festival, but these gigs were also scrapped.

Summer Das Boot in June

December 8, 2008 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden)

Strengthened by the success from last week's sold-out Das Boot cruise, a new Das Boot is already set. Next time, we can look forward to get "shitfaced drunk" (quote Ronan Harris, VNV Nation) outdoors on deck as the next cruise is on June 11-12.

This Das Boot made waves on the ocean; people went nuts, especially when VNV Nation and Infected Mushroom performed. Ronan Harris was in a really good mood and made fun of Blutengel, who had played one hour earlier (with a limited stage show). He also stated "I may be fat, I may not be 18. But I can move faster than all of you fuckers. Big is fucking beautiful!".

Client had a bad time slot at 3 pm on the second day. Vocalist Sarah was the only original Client present, with two new girls at her side. We played the best tunes from 2008 between the main live acts and had a good time.

Swedish EBM act salute their region

December 6, 2008 | By: Tobias Eliasson (Gothenburg, Sweden)

Kommando XY is a new Swedish band with Gustav Jansson from Sturm Café and singer Jocke M. Their first album “Welcome to Gestrikland” was released by Electric Tremor on December 1. The sound is classic EBM, with lyrics in Swedish all focusing on the region of Gästrikland in Sweden, home to the members.

Electric Tremor started in 2002 as a promoter for pure EBM music, doing clubs and festivals like Familientreffen in Sandersleben. They have evolved into also releasing records with many of the bands that have found an audience through the club.

New twists from And One

December 4, 2008 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden)

A new single from And One arrives on December 14, and this time, it's not the usual CD routine. Instead, we're treated with an expensive orange vinyl 7" in a limited edition of 500 copies. The A-side holds the new track "Paddy Is My DJ" and the B-side a live cover recording of "Timekiller".

No release date is set for the cover album "Bodypop 1 1/2".

In January and February, And One plays a number of live shows in Germany, with an unusual twist. The will play the same venue twice; the first night will be for the ladies with the men following the night after.
