November 11, 2009 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden)

The line-up looks like that of a German festival: Hocico, Combichrist, Absolute Body Control, Dive, Lights of Euphoria, Vomito Negro, Fixmer/McCarthy, Melotron... the list goes on. But we're talking about Canada and the Kinetik Festival in Montreal. The May 12-16 fest keeps adding new live acts.

Swedish EBM bands join forces on vinyl

November 10, 2009 | By: Tobias Eliasson (Gothenburg, Sweden)

It was a successful experiment two years ago, so once again a number of Swedish bands have joined forces to release the "Swedish Old School EBM EP 2009". This is a limited edition of only 150 copies on classic 7" vinyl.

The compilation is made by the band Container 90 and they are also one of the four artists on here; the others are Kropp, Spark and T.W.A.T.

The first EP sold out in only eight days, so act quick if you want this future collectors item which is a nice take on the current scene in Sweden.

The Pain Machinery adds structure

November 10, 2009 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden)

I was positively surprised when I caught The Pain Machinery live at Club Target in Gothenburg in September. The uncompromising yet structured EBM left me wanting more. And now "Total Recall EP" is here on Advoxya Records with tracks from the upcoming album, remixes and previously unreleased material. TPM has recorded a video for the song "Total Recall".

A follow-up to the 2006 album "Wipe out, Burn Down, Annihilate" from 2006 is in the making.

This is taken from a job ad the Arvika Festival posted on the major job ad site Platsbanken in Sweden. An ad that was later deleted by Platsbanken. During the three days the ad was on line, 100 persons applied.

New single and video from In Strict Confidence

November 3, 2009 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden)

New guitar player and burlesque/fire performer (!) Haydee Sparks.

We booked an interview with In Strict Confidence in the summer of 2008, because new material was on its way. Well, now its here. On November 20, we expect the new single "My Despair" to land. The CDM offers five versions of the unusually slow title track, the two extra songs "Constant Flow" and "Feelings", and the beautiful video for "My Despair".

A new album, scheduled for early 2010, is being prepared as we speak.

In Strict Confidence hooked up with Wonderland Records today. Wonderland who will be their partner for the Swedish market usually works with softer pop acts like Universal Poplab and Emmon, but Swedish/German owner Sebastian Hess obviously wants to broaden his stable a bit. The Swedish single release date is December 2.

Dark electro band In Strict Confidence put out their first release - a cassette - 17 years ago and we have followed them in Release ever since.
