DIRTY BOMB
ALBUM KMFDM PRODUCTIONS RELEASE: DECEMBER 14, 2006 REVIEW: MARCH 30, 2007

I have immense respect for the talents of Dean Garcia, I'll admit. As one half of the prescience that was Curve, his musical styles and unnerving ability to compose astounding melodic tunes beguiled me for the entire span of Curve's existence (1990-2005 RIP). I've been very curious as to where he'd go and what he'd do now that he and Toni Halliday aren't working together anymore.

When I heard he was working on a new project with members of KMFDM my heart sunk. Surely this wasn't true! It couldn't be, it just couldn't be I kept telling myself. This album, however, is far better than I had ever expected it could be. With any luck Garcia will get the last laugh on Garbage and Collide finally. He's never been catchier and his unique combination of hip/hop beats and that slithery bass are firmly on point.

For her part, KMFDM member Lucia Cifarelli is more than an able foil to Garcia's musical brilliance. "Best of Everything" features some nicely boiling vocals that make me want to go stomp the hell out of a dancefloor. It may be the best track on the album but there's a nagging voice in the back of my head that tells me this is not a project that will be back, so I'd better enjoy the gift I've been given. Ah yes, what are some of the things Sacha does to merit having his last name's initial listed first? Bits of Bass and Guitar here and there. Kinda says it all doesn't it?
