ORBITAL
MIDDLE OF NOWHERE
ALBUM FFRR RELEASE: SPRING 1999, JUNE 8, 1999 (USA) REVIEW: JUNE 11, 1999
To simply do the same thing over again, even if developed a little bit is seldom enough for bands like Orbital. At least if you ask our colleagues. But Orbital doesn't seem to have a problem with this.
In a music world with all sorts of crossovers and genre diversity it's nice to follow artists who cherish their unique way of expression.
Orbital's new album gives us nothing new under the sun and it is similar to their old stuff. As usual they serve us what could be described as monotonous, electronic symphonies where the melodies and rhythms live as well as breathe. They float, transforms, pulsates and sparkles.
This is cool music for ten minutes, fine background music for twenty - but boring in the long run.
