Belgium's Organic signed by Sweden's CCP label May 16, 2012 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden) Swedish label Complete Control Productions (CCP) which has specialized in hard electronic bands, has signed Belgian band Organic. It's a duo that mixes electronics with "the power of fuzzy post punk bass". The first release will be the single "Waves Are Running" next month followed by the album "Fist, Food & Fury" in August. A CCP compilation is taking shape as well, with artists such as Portion Control, Agent Side Grinder, The Pain Machinery and Severe Illusion. Psyche classics remastered May 15, 2012 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden)
Infacted Recordings in Germany continue with their massive undertaking: a synthpop and EBM classics collection with 30 releases. Now it's time for some Psyche to be remastered and released on the compilation "As the Brain Collapses". All the old hits are on here, like the great "Prisoner to Desire", "Unveiling the Secret", "The Brain Collapses", "Mr Eyeball Ooze", "Misery" and "Insatiable". The majority of the collection offers tracks from Psyche's early rawer, edgier days when Psyche was Canadian brothers Darrin and Stephen Huss. The limited edition CD (1000 copies) is out in 10 days. Björk cancels concert dates May 11, 2012 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden)
Björk has cancelled several concert dates including Sónar São Paulo, Primavera Sound, Optimus Primavera Sound and Balaton Sound because of a polyp near her vocal chords. The doctors advise her to rest her voice. The Roskilde festival and Stockholm Music & Arts are still on. Dead Can Dance release date set May 10, 2012 | By: MiIkael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden)
Dead Can Dance's comeback album is now set for an August 9 release. August 9 also marks the start of their extensive tour. Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerard have worked on the album since the autumn of 2011 and since early this year, they are recording in Ireland’s Quivy Studios. S.P.O.C.K "Best of" compilation is here May 9, 2012 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden)
Swedish synthpop act S.P.O.C.K signed with Toronto's Artoffact label a while ago and the first release is a "Best of" compilation called "Another Piece of the Action - The Best of the SubSpace Years". As the title suggests, the product only features tracks from when they were signed to SubSpace Communications. Their early Energy Rekords material is not available on Spotify either. Some compilation tracks are included in rare single or EP versions. S.P.O.C.K will also play in North America for the first time in ages, at the Kinetik festival on May 20, where the first copies of the CD will be sold. The Kinetik festival in Montreal, Canada, takes place on May 17-20 and this year Haujobb, Combichrist, Beborn Beton, Grendel, Hocico, Blutengel, E-Craft and Nachtmahr are part of the line-up. When I visited the Electrixmas festival in Sweden in December 2011, S.P.O.C.K premiered new catchy songs, member Crulle-E said goodbye and a new member had joined the band. This is one of many line-up changes through the years, with Alexander "Android" Hofman being the only original member. The Prodigy mentions title of new album May 4, 2012 | By: Johan Carlsson (Stockholm, Sweden) British punk-electro outfit The Prodigy have been working on a new album since 2009 when "Invaders Must Die" came out. Now NME reports that the new album is tentatively called "How to Steal a Jet Fighter", and is supposedly "heavier and darker" than the last one, which main man Liam Howlett calls a "party album". They will debut new songs at this year's Download Festival which they are headlining, and I'm hoping we will see an album release after the summer. Future Sound of London release "Environments 4" May 3, 2012 | By: Johan Carlsson (Stockholm, Sweden)
Garry Cobain and Brian Dougans focused almost all their energy to the psychedelic prog-rock outfit Amorphous Androgynous after their seminal FSOL albums in the nineties. Recently though, they've been steadily releasing material under their Future Sound of London moniker again, and the latest is an album called "Environments 4", a treat for us who enjoy their more electronic output. It's available in their own web shop. Of course, we can also hopefully look forward to the duo's collaboration with Noel Gallagher, a psychedelic album featuring reworkings of songs from his solo album under the name Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. Just a few days ago though Noel has been quoted as saying that he doesn't know if it's ever going to be released. Front Line Assembly cancel summer shows Apr 19, 2012 | By: Johan Carlsson (Stockholm, Sweden) In order to focus on studio work, Front Line Assembly has cancelled all the summer shows of 2012. They will keep themselves busy with an instrumental game soundtrack album for "Airmech", a new full length album, and possibly a new Noise Unit album! Phew. To make this event really special he's going to play both Conjure One and Delerium tracks, plus some FLA tracks that haven't been played live for a long time. The sole remaining original Kraftwerk member Ralf Hütter has told New York Times that a new album will be finished "soon". Of course, "soon" for Kraftwerk can mean anything from 3 months to 10 years as we have learned in the past. - We didn’t fall asleep. The 168-hour week is still going on since the beginning, since 1970, he told the newspaper. New Ultravox album after 28 years Apr 17, 2012 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden)

Front Line Assembly makes game soundtrack Apr 11, 2012 | By: Johan Carlsson (Stockholm, Sweden) We recently got some more information about the upcoming Front Line Assembly album. It's a bit of a departure, since it's an instrumental game soundtrack! Of course they have previously done the music for Quake III and Quake III Arena. The game in question is Airmech from Carbon Games, and the music will be featured during gameplay, but it will also be released as an album in the fall, on Metropolis. The band's involvement doesn't end there though, as the members will be featured as pilots in the game, and there will also be a special Airmech variant made with input from the band. Kent back with “999” in just a week Mar 21, 2012 | By: Johan Carlsson (Stockholm, Sweden)
If you're on Twitter, you could follow an interesting (and drunk) Twitter drama where all four members of Kent posted about their adventures in Italy recently. And somewhere in the middle, they suddenly decided to announce their new single via the social network as well. Then the press release arrived. The track is called "999", is 6.53 long, and it's out on March 28. It's closely followed by their tenth album "Jag är inte rädd för döden" (means I'm not afraid of death) on April 25. As you might have read in our On Stage section, Kent is going on tour around Scandinavia this summer as well, in support of the album. They start in Helsinki, Finland on June 27, going through Sweden during the summer and ending in Bergen, Norway in August 25. Another Skinny Puppy live album Mar 21, 2012 | By: Johan Carlsson (Stockholm, Sweden) Metropolis just announced that they're releasing a Skinny Puppy live album. It's called "Bootlegged, Broke and In Solvent Seas", and was recorded in Warsaw, Bratislava, Hildesheim and Budapest during their last tour. The material hasn't been edited or tinkered with, it sounds exactly as it sounded on the day. Look for it on June 12. Assemblage 23 brings us "Bruise" in June Mar 16, 2012 | By: Johan Carlsson (Stockholm, Sweden)

As is the norm these days, it will come as a two disc special edition with an extra CD with exlusive tracks and remixes by folks such as Daniel Myer and Grendel. In a surprising move, legendary Swedish musician Freddie Wadling (Blue for Two, Fläskkvartetten, Cortex, and old punk bands like Liket Lever and Leather Nun) has signed to Swedish synth label Progress Productions. Freddie and producer Per Svensson's new project Kingdom of Evol has a sound inspired by psychedelic rock, postpunk and industrial, so it's perhaps not as surprising as it would seem at first sight. Label head honcho Torny Gottberg says the sound is reminiscent of Cortex and Einstürzende Neubauten. The album called "Nocturnal Incidents" is planned for a May release, also featuring Ebbot Lundberg from Soundtrack of Our Lives, Joachim Nordvall, Leif Elggren and old Cortex producer (their first album in 1981!) Henrik Venant. Check out two tracks here. |
