Fields of the Nephilim comeback single in May
Now it is finally confirmed: at May 15, gothic legends Fields of the Nephilim releases the first single after the split nine years ago. Fans can look forward to several festival performances as well as a possible tour later this year. /Jens Krause

Sadovaja debut album on Monday



The Gothenburg innovative electronica duo Sadovaja will deliver their debut album "Kill Your Darlings" via Memento Materia on Monday. Sadovaja is fronted by a female singer called Sarah Assbring. /Mikael Kahrle

Moby hits number one
With help from the new single "Natural Blues", Moby has reached number one in the English sales charts with his about one year old album "Play". /Mikael Kahrle

New album from Tarwater
The German postrock lieblings Tarwater are set to release their new album "Animals, Suns and Atoms" on April 28. Expect mellow electronic weirdness the way only Germans can do it. The song "All of the Ants Left Paris" can be heard right now at their label website,

EnCounter leaves Energy Rekords


The Swedish female fronted synthpop act EnCounter have left their record company Energy Records and are currently looking for a new record deal.
- We have good hopes of finding the lust for making new music again, they say and state that they have nothing against the Energy staff. /Mikael Kahrle

Ravenous third album almost here
The new, ten track Ravenous album has been given a name, it’s called "Phoenix", and it’s due out this coming Monday, April 17. They’re currently under contract with successful label Bloodline. /Niklas Forsberg

Swedish promo festival in London
The Swedish Midweeker happening is the latest attempt to bring Swedish music abroad. Taking place at London's Scala on April 27, the mini festival presents some of the Swedish alternative top acts to the Brits. The artists appearing are Bergman Rock (Bob hund), The (International) Noise Conspiracy, Nicolai Dunger, Thomas Rusiak and The Weeping Willows. The organisers are hoping to take the event to New York and Tokyo later in the year. /Mattias Huss

Prodigy member's solo careers
Leeroy Thornhill has left The Prodigy to pursue a solo career with the project Flightcrank.
Maxim of The Prodigy has been working on a solo career for some time now. He will release the single "Carmen Queasy" on May 29, where he sings a duet with Skunk Anansie's Skin. An album will follow after the summer. /Mikael Kahrle

Three dimensional single
German band Carnival of Dreams, now with Carlos Peron as one of the members, has released a single called "Dreidimensional". There are two versions of the title track, and two bonus songs, of which one is a German cover of Justin Hayward’s "Nights in White Satin". Their music is danceable, dark and electronic. /Niklas Forsberg

Two new synthpop singles from ADD
Two new A Different Drum bands have released new singles recently.
The new Iris single is the first track from their successful "Disconnect" album, "Lose in Wanting". It contains mixes from Echoing Green, System22 and others.
Blue October are also back with a new single called "Stranded". It contains two extra tracks. This is the first release with their new singer, since the former tragically past away last year. /Niklas Forsberg

Skinny Puppy reunion concert
A reunited Skinny Puppy will perform on the Doomsday Festival in Dresden on August 20! A spectacular multimedia show is to be expected. The concert will be recorded for record release. This is the first Puppy gig in Germany in twelve years and an exclusive one.
Among the other acts confirmed for Doomsday (August 19 and 20) so far are The Sisters of Mercy, Covenant, The Legendary Pink Dots, Philip Boa & the Voodooclub, De/Vision, In Extremo, Philtron and Wolfsheim. /Mikael Kahrle

New Secret Service material
Swedish Secret Service will release a greatest hits compilation world-wide in August. The band is reunited and has recorded two new songs for the CD. "Destiny" and "Sound of the Rain" are said to have the classic Secret Service sound. Two old songs have also been reworked.
Secret Service was started in 1979 and a successful pop act with hits like "Oh Susie" and "Flash in the Night" in the eighties. Front man Ola Håkansson is nowadays president of Stockholm Records.
The first steps towards a reunion were taken in 1997, when Secret Service made some Antiloop remixes, which was never released. /Mikael Kahrle


Four electro companies join forces
Electronic music record companies Bloodline, SubSpace Communications, TCM/Vision and Memento Materia join forces towards the international market under the name Electronic Music Service - EMS. All four will have distribution through Playground Music in Scandinavia from now on. /Mikael Kahrle

Disappointment for And One


And One and Virgin have probably aimed too high with their new album "Virgin Superstar". Since the last album "9.9.99 9 Uhr" reached position 15, the goal for the new album was top-10 in the official German charts. This goal has been missed heavily, since it's only reached position 33. /Jens Krause

Mobile Homes single delivered today
The new single from Mobile Homes, "It's All for the Best", was shipped today. The video has been successful on MTV. The band is currently working on a computer game for their web site. /Mikael Kahrle

Pain is heading for Germany
Swedish industrial project Pain is currently in Germany for promotional activities. The album "Rebirth" will be released in Germany on May 15.
Pain has been extremely successful in their home country. For example, their debut single "End of the Line" has sold gold. /Mikael Kahrle

Manson and Cult pays tribute to Doors
Marilyn Manson and The Cult are two of the bands who participates on the new Doors tribute "Stoned Immaculate". /Mikael Kahrle

Primal Scream focus on USA



The US release for Primal Scream's "Xtrmntr" is set to May 2. On May 26 they will embark on their first American tour in eight years. They will visit eleven cities and the finale is in San Francisco on June 10. /Mikael Kahrle

SAMA winners release "double A-side" single



Saft's fresh single features the new song "Här" in punkpop style, as well as "Restan av ditt liv" from last year's "3-2-1" album. The record company refers to the single a "double A-side". A somewhat strange term when it comes to CD singles.
Saft won the best Swedish artist award at SAMA last Saturday.

The electronica act Breakbeat Era has just decided to split up. /Mikael Kahrle

Mission shares M'era Luna stage with Sisters
The Mission have several live dates on the way. In the end of April, they will play four gigs in South Africa, a country which is mentioned more and more often in the alternative music world. In May, they have confirmed shows in Spain and Portugal as well as others on the way.
The most spectacular date, however, is August 12, at M'era Luna Festival in Germany. It seems The Mission will perform on the same stage and day as The Sisters of Mercy. /Mikael Kahrle

• Swedish Alternative Music Awards
on April 1 was a success. Everything worked out as planned and there were some surprises. For example, a reunited old line-up of Page with Eddie Bengtsson, Marina Schiptjenko and Anders Eliasson performed live.
Johan Kinde, Ulf Ekberg, Hans Erkendahl, among others, gave the five awards to the following artists:
Best artist 1999: Saft
Best album 1999: S.P.O.C.K: "S.P.O.C.K: 1999"
Best song 1999: Covenant: "Tour de Force"
Best live artist 1999: S.P.O.C.K
Best newcomer 1999: Venus Outback
