It doesn't surprise anyone that "Brave New World" will be the second Covenant single off "Skyshaper". The disc lands on August 18, including remixes signed Covenant themselves and tour pals Client, the bonus track "The New Virus" - and an extensive trailer for an upcoming Covenant DVD.

Portion Control raise the pulse; Baron Mordant unleashed

May 28 2006 | By: Peter Marks (Portland, Oregon, USA)

The still-untitled new Portion Control album is set for release later in the year. It will contain ten new tracks and is a more vocally-based, musically direct album than 2004's sonic excursion "Well-Come" was. Currently, Mr. Hicks, Mr. Whybrew and Mr. Sharp had this to say:

- Work continues on the brand new studio CD which will now appear later in the year. All the material is now written and ready to be shaped into the final output. More information should follow shortly.

Also of note, the massive five disc box-set which chronicles their legendary early work and is simply entitled "Archive" is out, complete with badge set and two glossy posters.

The first ever full-length album from Mordant Music, "Dead Air", is also now out and available via the good Baron's web site. Review in progress.

Images in Vogue CD with Cevin Key and Don Gordon

May 27 2006 | By: Alex Veronac (Geneva, Switzerland)

1981, from left to right: Joe Vizvary, Gary Smith, Gary J., Kevin W. Crompton (Cevin Key), Don Gordon.

Many of us like to hide our past, but today many bands look to satisfy fan demand for more material and look as far back as early demos. Such is the case with Images in Vogue as this week we see the release of their audio CD "Collection Version 3.0: Evolution" on label Carlos Monte Records.

The Vancouver project started in 1981 with influences in European electronic music. Images in Vogue had a sound of its own including that of the new romantic, new wave, synth and post punk. It was also the springboard for guitarist Don Gordon (Numb, Halo Gen) and drummer Cevin Key (Skinny Puppy, Download) that went on to form musical creations of their own.

"Evolution" offers 19 songs, starting with unreleased demos from the early days of 1981 and continues through 1987 with fully produced songs.

A CD review is to follow soon. One can find earlier Images in Vogue news from Release here.

May 27 2006 | By: Peter Marks (Portland, Oregon, USA)

Workaholic machine tormentor Anthony Rother is back in June with his new album "Super Space Model" (Datapunk). This eleven track album follows right on the heels of his double album/DVD box set entitled "This Is Electro" which was released in December of last year and chronicled his prolific career.

Bill Leeb: Delerium album in October

May 25 2006 | By: Johan Carlsson (Stockholm, Sweden)

Front Line Assembly, summer 2006.

A few days ago, I had a nice chat with the industrial overlord Bill Leeb himself. He seemed to be in a good mood and was excited about going out on tour with Front Line Assembly.

Expect the classic hits – as voted by the fans – and lots of energy on stage. The line-up is not finalized, as Chris Peterson might not join the European leg of the tour, but Bill Leeb, Rhys Fulber and Jeremy Inkel will. There will be a live drummer in the form of Adrian White, and a live guitarist – at least for USA. Bill is not sure if he's bringing the guitarist over here as he only plays three songs.

Leeb also told me they were finishing up the new Delerium album, almost literally, as we were on the phone. He and Rhys have been working on it for some time, and he describes it as a more sophisticated sounding album than ever before. It's more in the vein of “Karma” than the latest pop oriented albums, and features big orchestrations, as well as guest vocals by Kristy Thirsk, Kirsty Hawkshaw, Jael, Medieval Baebes and Isabel Bayrakdarian. The latter features on the soundtrack for “The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers”.

If everything goes as planned, the as yet untitled Delerium album comes out in October.

A full Spotlight on Bill Leeb is coming soon. Check out old Release News for info on the tour and the new album.

High expectations for new Zeraphine

May 23 2006 | By: Peter Marks (Portland, Oregon, USA)

"Still" (Drakkar/BMG), the fourth album from Berlin's own Zeraphine will be out June 30. Naturally, expectations are running high as their last album, 2005's "Blind Camera" was a conceptual work that deviated quite noticeably (albeit impressively) from previous works.

A limited edition of "Still" is also planned and features a bonus song, one video and some behind the scenes footage of the band.

Live dates are, of course, being worked out and will emerge in due course.

On May 25 (next Friday), we will join Gothenburg's Romo Night and their ten year anniversary at Trädgår'n.

In one of the three dancefloors, the "Stranded Bar", they put the classic Lustans Lakejer line-up Johan Kinde, Tom Wolgers and Christer Hellman in the DJ boot. On stage, it's time for Covenant to play their first non-festival gig in Gothenburg in ten years. Furthermore: outdoor disco and big screen videos.

Romo Night was born on June 7 1996 and there's been a club night each month for the majority of these ten years. Only Tobbe Eriksson is left of originally three organisers.

- How can I keep going? By loving the music, it's as simple as that, he says.

Yorke solo: more electronic than Radiohead

May 15 2006 | By: Johan Carlsson (Stockholm, Sweden)

Radiohead’s front man and singer Thom Yorke has fiddled with his own material for a couple of years, and now we will finally get to hear what it sounds like. “The Eraser” is out on XL Recordings on July 10 in Europe, and July 11 in the US.

Thom says it’s got more beats and electronics than Radiohead, but it’s still a song based album. He doesn’t want it to be called a solo album – even though I guess it is? However, it's done with the blessing of the other band members and produced by Nigel Godrich who produced “OK Computer”.
