Bill Leeb joined Skinny Puppy on stage

May 30 2007 | By: Johan Carlsson (Stockholm, Sweden)

After Bill Leeb left Skinny Puppy in 1985, relations between him and the band have been a bit frosty. However, on a recent Skinny Puppy concert at the Gothic Convergence festival – where Bill's own Front Line Assembly was co-headlining – Bill came on stage to sing with Nivek Ogre on the track "Social Deception" from the "Bites" album. "Haven't seen this guy in 20 years", Nivek Ogre says on stage.

A fan filmed the event and put the result on Youtube.

May 25 2007 | By: Mattias Huss (Uppsala/Stockholm, Sweden)

As we have noted previously, Portishead is firmly back in the limelight. They will be curating this year's edition for the arty British music festival All Tomorrows Parties in December this year. They will also perform at the event, which has been dubbed "Nightmare before Christmas" this time.

No news yet of the upcoming third album. On the band's Myspace, a video from Portishead's secret gig in February shows the band performing an acoustic version of "Wandering Star".

New Orbital CD and DVD release

May 23 2007 | By: Mike Whyte (Tokyo, Japan)

Apologies to anyone who has their hopes up of this being a release of new material from the brothers Hartnoll – it is not – but the contents should more than satisfy even those with only a passing interest in this sadly now defunct pioneering electronic music act.

“Live At Glastonbury 1994-2004” is as the title suggests, a collection of some of the classic tracks played between this ten year period, with support from a DVD of selected highlights from the five Glastonbury festivals they played during that time.  Including such seminal tracks as “Chime”, “Satan” and “Belfast” among the set, the two audio discs and one audio-visual disc make for something of a collectors item for those Orbital completists out there, as well as a more than satisfying greatest hits collection for those less well known with their work. The DVD highlights the seeming affection Orbital had for Glastonbury, saving some of their legendary performances for the event.

“Live At Glastonbury 1994-2004” is slated for release through ACP Recordings on June 11.
