New Die Form album on May 29 April 28, 2009 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden) Die Form's new album "Noir Magnétique" is said to be accessible and dance oriented yet maintaining the French duo's unique artistic vision. The product arrives on May 29 both in a regular CD version and a box with an extra 7". Die Form, who cancelled their Tinitus show in Stockholm a while ago, have four concerts planned: in Paris, at Wave Gotik Treffen in Leipzig, at Gothic Festival in Waregem and at M'era Luna in Hildesheim. Both albums will be released in May. Lacrimosa tours the world April 27, 2009 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden) Lacrimosa is one of few bands in the scene that obviously isn't satisfied with the normal European and American touring routine. In July, they kick off their second world tour in Brazil, followed by dates in Central and South America, Japan, China, Korea and Eastern Europe. Arvid debut finally on its way April 23, 2009 | Updated on April 26, 2009 | By: Tobias Eliasson and Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden) After two limited edition singles, the debut album from Arvid will now be released on May 13. Wonderland Records found his music through MySpace late 2007; the album was originally planned for last spring but got delayed. Release already got a chance to listen to the album, that will be called "Andetag" and as expected, fans of classic synthpop in the softer category won’t be disappointed. A review is on its way. The release party for Arvid will be held on May 1 at Sticky Fingers in Gothenburg, where Arvid will perform alongside Thermostatic, Chesire Cat and Existensminimum. Several new Kent songs recorded in Berlin April 23, 2009 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden) Jocke Berg from Kent posted information on their eight album earlier this week, in the band's forum. He says the band has just returned from Berlin where they have started recording a new album. - During two extremely focused weeks many new songs have been recorded. The songs have been written during last year up until April this year, Berg writes. Kent will commence work in their Stockholm studio Psykbunkern shortly. Simple Minds and OMD join forces on tour April 22, 2009 | By: Tobias Eliasson (Gothenburg, Sweden) OMD. Following their upcoming album “Graffiti Soul”, Simple Minds will play seven dates in the UK this December. Adding to the value, OMD will be special guests during the tour. - Particularly in these times it is vitally important for us to give as much value to our audience as possible, says Jim Kerr of Simple Minds. He even hints that the bands may play something together. Simple Minds plan to add more dates and extending it to a world tour, but nothing is official yet. It’s also uncertain if OMD will be a part of the world tour. “Graffiti Soul” will be released on May 25. Nitzer Ebb headline Depeche Mode convention April 21, 2009 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden) and Alex Veronac (Geneva, Switzerland) There are Depeche Mode parties and there are Depeche Mode parties. Go to Berlin on June 9 to visit the biggest of them all. Nitzer Ebb, De/Vision and Frozen Plasma will perform live at the "Convention of the Universe". This huge Depeche Mode party, which also hires six DJ:s for three dancefloors, will be held the day before Depeche Mode's Olympiastadion concert. Farewell show with Sturm Café April 21, 2009 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden) Sturm Café, the EBM duo that called it a day a short while ago, has agreed to perform a farewell show at the 5 Years of Progress Festival in Gothenburg on May 16. - We have many fine memories from our gigs in Gothenburg, so this feels right, they say. Mr Jones Machine have also been added to the line-up, and they will record their concert live and then release it one single copy during the festival. Previously booked acts are Necro Facility, Kite, Mommy Hurt My Head, Kopfer Kat and System. The night before, on Friday the 15th, Biomekkanik plays at Synthklubben in the same city. For Skinny Puppy fans? April 21, 2009 | By: Peter Marks (Portland, Oregon USA) "No Ordinary Man"(Artoffact), the new EP from Canadians Saint Vitus Dance (S.V.D.) is out in digital format on May 5. The band have already put out an album and single on the Dependent label some years back but now stylistically have embraced more of a trance feel to their work. Comparisons to Numb and Skinny Puppy will, naturally, be prevalent but much development is hinted at by the members so it's anyone's guess as to how similar this release will be to what has been previously heard from them. Two new releases from Megahype in Stockholm have seen the light of day this week. After some delay, the new Mobile Homes old school-album "Today Is Your Lucky Day" is finally here. It is produced by Kent's Sami Sirviö and has been quite well received so far. The Mobile Homes celebrate 25 years as a band. Modern synthpop duo Rupesh Cartel move further into club land with their third effort, "Anchor Baby". The album contains a duet with Andrea from Firefox AK called "Kick Me into Action". Viktor Ginner from Rupesh Cartel produced Firefox AK album "If I Were a Melody" in Berlin. Reviews in progress. |
