Assemblage 23 and Christian Death help LA project Moodorgan December 30, 2009 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden) A "Mood Organ" is a device which allows you to dial the mood you would like to have, featured in Philip K Dick's "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?", the novel that the movie "Blade Runner" is based upon. It's also a music project from California. Tom Shear (Assemblage 23) and Rikk Agnew (Christian Death) are two of the contributors on Moodorgan's CD and digital EP "Prv2: (Process Remixes Volume 2)". On November 28, the release party was held at Hollywood's gothic club Bar Sinister. "Prv2" includes club remixes of tracks from previous releases, a new song and bonus tracks by Black.empathy.box and Catalog. Moodorgan call themselves a "darkwave/futurepop multimedia performance project". - Here in LA, the so-called goth/industrial scene really encompasses a remarkably wide range of styles and genres - from hard-hitting industrial and powernoise to synthpop and EBM to tribal and ethereal. This same sort of eclecticism has always been a part of our aestetic, says Peter from Moodorgan. Skinny Puppy mini interview about the delayed CD December 22, 2009 | By: Alex Veronac (Geneva, Switzerland)
Skinny Puppy's "In Solvent See" tour has ended after 30 dates through the USA and Canada. It was the band's second outing as a live trio with Justin Bennett drumming. Long time studio collaborator Ken Marshall was mixing the live sound, and video artist Tim Hill gave the Puppy live show more visual chaos than ever. This tour brought the band back to Vancouver, BC, for their first time performing since 1990. The new Skinny Puppy recorded album to compliment "In Solvent See" has been delayed due to internal issues with German label SPV. The solvency company holds the future release of recordings. Release had a moment with Ogre in Tempe, AZ, backstage after soundcheck. - We have been approached by the insolvency company which has been approached by the (German) government which has been approached by SPV. In the summer there was talk about a solution coming by August 22 2009 and it went on and on... We committed to this tour before it all happened. We followed the promise of what it meant to our fans. The show production and finances became a "do it yourself" type thing, he explains. Ogre is proud of the new show. - The canvas that Tim Hill paints onstage based on the theatrics, can create a lot of emotion: the blood, the viscera... I'm very, very proud of this show. We've had zero promotion and somehow we seem to have very good walk-ups to the shows on this tour. Are there any new places you look forward to play: Japan, Australia, South America? - We've always wanted to, but we have a travel weight issue, Ogre says. I heard there is a Russia offer, we'd like to go to Eastern Europe and south to Italy, Spain, other locations. Mexico City was planned but the current touring setup is too heavy for the costs involved and security issues. Preferably a headline position at night that requires a dark stage. On a side note, Cevin Key did a DJ set in Tokyo in October 2008 to promote the band's newly created recordings. Well ahead of time, it seems. Sirviö and Tilliander join The Mobile Homes December 20, 2009 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden) Sami Sirviö (Kent) and Andreas Tilliander, who have previously worked with The Mobile Homes, are know full members of this Swedish synthpop band. A new album is being prepared as we speak. DAC annual charts December 19, 2009 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden) The German alternative charts, Deutsche Alternative Charts (DAC), has released the totals for 2009. The top single is Depeche Mode's "Wrong" and top album the compilation "Septic VIII". Depeche Mode's "Sounds of the Universe" can be found far down at position 15. In a comment, the DAC crew says the artists that was successful and made money in Germany 2009 were those who played extensively live and were picked up by DJ:s. The record releases were secondary and served to promote the bands and push the concert fees. The top five single charts for 2009 looks like this: 1. Depeche Mode: "Wrong", 2. VNV Nation: "Reformation 1 Club EP", 3. Depeche Mode: "Peace", 4. Rotersand: "War on Error", 5. VNV Nation: "The Great Divide". The album charts: 1. "Septic VIII", 2. VNV Nation: "Of Faith, Power and Glory", 3. "Abby - the Compilation 3", 4. Diary of Dreams: "(if)", 5. Combichrist: "Today We Are All Demons". New album from Belgian EBM veterans Vomito Negro December 18, 2009 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden) I watched a Vomito Negro live show in the early nineties in Gothenburg. And earlier this year, I was quite impressed by their concert at Wave Gotik Treffen in Germany. These Belgian EBM veterans started way back in the mid eighties. On January 22, Out of Line will put out their new album "Skull and Bones". The limited first edition comes with a greatest hits bonus CD. |
