In December Cologne's Amphi Festival booked Front Line Assembly. Now, they add Skinny Puppy as headliner.

Among the other live acts we find And One, Project Pitchfork, Mesh, Diary of Dreams, Anne Clark, Welle:Erdball and VNV Nation.

Wall of Sound has signed The Human League and a new album will see the light of day during 2010. It is a worldwide multi-album deal.


Project-X celebrates 15 years with new album

Swedish EBM band Project-X celebrates their 15th anniversary this year and marks that occasion with booking a tour as well as releasing a new EP and album.

The band's last full length was "Modus Operandi" in 2003. Members Torny Gottberg, Mattias Werdenskog and Jouni Ollila have been working quite some time on and off on the new material but in December they entered the studio for the last touches and the result will see the light of day in February. The EP is called "Needles and Control"(Memento Materia) and track one is the Joy Division cover "She's Lost Control", which is also remixed by Leaether Strip. An album will follow later in the year.

Project-X will also upload unreleased material and remixes to their Facebook page.


Manifest awards nominations

The four nominations in the "synth" category of the Release partner Manifest awards in Sweden have been announced: Arvid, Dupont, Emmon and Rupesh Cartel. Johan and Tobias from Release make up half of the jury.

The Electrixmas festival has published a stream page with over 50 tracks, most of them from small and medium-sized Swedish electronic music artists as well as some foreign: Rotersand and Psyche, for instance. The page could be used as a quick look at the Swedish scene. All the festival visitors were given the option to download the songs.


Combichrist continue to support Rammstein

Combichrist has once again been selected as support act for Rammstein. The band will support Rammstein on their January-March tour leg, and play some gigs on their own as well.

Alice in Videoland have left National for Wonderland Records. A new single will see the light of day in late February or early March.


The Knife's opera music on CD

On March 1, The Knife, Mt Sims and Planningtorick plan to release the music from the opera "Tomorrow, in a Year" on a double CD. The first track "Coloring of Pigeons" is downloadable here.


Recoil album and event tour this spring

Alan Wilder says a Recoil compilation called "Selected" will see the light of day in the spring, probably in April or May.

- The collection is made up of my personal favourites, remastered and edited together into what I consider a cohesive and total listening experience, Wilder reveals.

There will also be an "event tour" (whatever that means) throughout Europe and USA between March and May.

In addition, Alan Wilder has remixed the Nitzer Ebb track "I Am Undone" on the "Industrial Complex" bonus CD.


Live release from Pet Shop Boys imminent

Early this year Pet Shop Boys will release a live CD and DVD, recorded at their final concert at the London O2 arena in December. There will be one DVD/CD package and the music will also be released a digital download.

David Barnard ("Cubism") is directing the DVD and Stuart Price is producing the soundtrack.


SPV relaunch with new releases from Skinny Puppy, Covenant and Die Krupps

Skinny Puppy.

The first News from 2010 is regarding the German record label SPV that was declared insolvent last year but now, a number of releases are scheduled for the first half of 2010, distributed by Sony.

We are talking about new releases from Skinny Puppy (the new studio album), Funker Vogt (new studio album), Welle Erdball ("Operation: Zeitsturm" DVD and CD), Die Krupps (new studio album), Covenant (EP first, then the "Modern Ruin" album in June) and The Mission ("The Final Chapter Live"). A new version in the "Advanced Electronics" compilation series is also to be expected soon.
