BARRY ADAMSON
THE MURKY WORLD OF BARRY ADAMSON
COMPILATION ALBUM MUTE RELEASE: MAY 3, 1999
REVIEW: JUNE 1, 1999
Barry Adamson is the king of Cool. Creator of Bond-esque
cinematic soundscapes and tense atmospheres, he is cool in the
same way as Miles Davis or James Brown. They all share the
absolute mastery in their art and an air of danger and
unpredictability.
This compilation samples Barry Adamson's body of work from his
solo debut single "The Man with the Golden Arm" in 1988
up until last years critically acclaimed "As Above, so
Below". Additionally the record contains three new songs of
slightly weaker quality, more entertaining than capturing.
"The Murky World of Barry Adamson" is a very good
introduction to the work of one of Britain's most inspired
musicians right now. Hear it and feel like a gangster in a film
noir-movie.
