APOLLYON SUN
SUB
ALBUM MAYAN, PLAYGROUND RELEASE: SUMMER, 2000 (SCANDINAVIA), APRIL 4, 2000 (NORTH AMERICA) REVIEW: SEPTEMBER 18, 2000

European industrial rock bands often have something that sets them apart from their tiresome North American colleagues. The raw brutality of Apollyon Sun is no exception. Although far from impressive, their new album "Sub" has many qualities that are tragically missing amongst the American industrial mob. Like song writing and variation.
Produced by Young Gods producer Roli Mosimann, "Sub" hardly breaks any new ground, but is at least a well-conceived outburst of metal energy and sampled force, with quite few decent choruses and tunes. The sound can partly be traced back to The Young Gods' underrated "T.V. Sky", and since the originals seem to take their time to come up with a new album, Apollyon Sun can very well be worthy of a few listens.
