ATRIUM CANCERI
CELLBLOCK
ALBUM COLD MEAT INDUSTRY RELEASE: SEPTEMBER 2, 2003 REVIEW: NOVEMBER 2, 2003

Normally, I'm not a fan of music without hard beats and an evident tune, but Simon Heath's debut on the dark ambient scene is really something. With the album "Cellblock" he takes us on a beautiful journey through damp, foggy ruins and the music almost makes you feel the creeping moist against your skin. It is like a journey into a landscape of underground eternity. In a way, Atrium Canceri is a typical Cold Meat Industry product.
The album is very tight and one track helps developing the other. It is well produced and rich in details and you can listen to it over and over again - just to discover new shades and impressions. Part of Heath's idea with the album was to make something new of this genre. In a way I think that he has succeeded. The only sad thing is that the album is quite compact, and it feels as if many of the tracks have a too abrupt ending. Or maybe it is just me who don't want to leave the illusions the music brings to me.
