The people
behind newly formed Bloodline have managed to gather some of the most interesting
electronic acts to their label. And even though Behind the Scenes are more of
a rock band that an electronic ditto, they still have what it takes to make,
what seems to be, some of the best goth I've heard in a long time.
Former Merry Thoughts member Fred Büntig has, together with Sven Schumacher
and vocalist Melrow, succeeded in reanimating the dying goth beast. They've
also done well in providing the beast with some new features, such as dancing
shoes, a sense for direct pop melodies and a voice not only roaming the nether
regions of the scale.
The single release "Human" is the perfect goth hit, with the traditional guitar
loops, desperate, yet powerful vocals and a kick ass chorus. There's other impressive
work on "Homeless" too, but nothing can stand up to the raging electrorock masterpiece
that is "Human".
And though it sometimes sounds somewhat retro, the precision and wholesome use
of electronics saves it from being, even slightly, dull.
