RETURN TO CENTRAL

Electronic
disco. Sometimes with a twist of new wave, now and then an analogous taste
of the wicked 80:s they are so clearly in love with. Flirting with Duran
Duran and Human League, just as much as with Manic Street Preachers. Sometimes
brilliant, at times just a little too much sugar on top. It tends to get
a bit sticky.
"They" are Scotland's Bis and the album I am talking about is
their new release "Return to Central"; certainly their paramount
record so far. "The End Starts Today" is superb in it's overdramatic
and pompous production. "We're Complicated", "Robotic"
and "Silver Spoon" are other tracks worth mentioning. In particular
it is the songs sung by cartoonist Manda that really lifts.
As they are polished glam-pop on record they seem to be pretty punk on
stage
their rider demand no less than 36 cans/bottles of beer, one
bottle of wine and one bottle of vodka. I guess it can get kind of messy
out there.
