BOYTRONIC
MAXI
DOUBLE COMPILATION MAJOR RELEASE: JULY 12, 2004 REVIEW: AUGUST 5, 2004

They are pretty busy nowadays, Hayo and Holger. Album, single, live shows, re-release - and now this synthpop retro trip. Two discs, the first of which contains extended classic twelve inch versions from the care free, early days. Songs like "You", "Diamonds and Loving Arms", "Late Night Satellite" and the Bobby O produced "Man in a Uniform" highlight the track list here. Why they have included a track from side project Kamerata ("Heroin") remains a mystery, however.
The second disc holds the candy for the fans of present day Boytronic. Four fresh tracks, much in the vein of the latest album "Autotunes", four 2004 interpretations of old hits and a few remixes by other bands. They try to give "Luna Square" a new, improved costume, but that, in my view, is an impossible task. It's not necessarily bad, but much worse than the 1983 synthpop club smasher.
A bit of the old, a bit of the new. Luckily, it is all good.
