Yes,
it is a salute to the the good old Commodore 64. Code 64, yet another
Swedish electro newcomer, have their homebase not far from where I'm sitting
now actually, about as far west as you can go in this wind plagued country
of ours.
"Storm" offers nothing revolutionary as the trio roam the synthpop
and futurepop regions, but they do so with inspiring accuracy. Melodically
frantic club music with a strong voice to boost, guarantees success within
this community. There are nine substantially strong tunes on the main
disc and an additional five (three of which are versions of the fabulous
track "Without You") on a limited edition single to go along
with that one. Think VNV Nation in their most melodic mood and add a synthpop
styled vocalist and you will arrive at least somewhere near the sound
of Code 64. Continuous spot-on choruses throughout the album doesn't hurt
them either.
