CRIMES OF
PASSION
RITES OF
BURIAL
ALBUM APOLLYON RELEASE: WINTER, 1999 REVIEW: DECEMBER 23, 1999
This band
is actually a side project by the members of the old line-up of the Australian
goth band Ikon. Ikon have existed for quite a while and have often been
compared to bands like Joy Division, Death in June and New Order.
I'm sad to say
that Crimes of Passion is not much compared to the music that these men usually
make in Ikon. Many of the songs are boring, at least when compared to Ikon. The
music is mainly instrumental and ambient. Well, that kind of music have to be
very special to impress me. I demand more than just sounds, ambience and
darkness.
“Rites of
Burial” is not bad, but it's pretty uninteresting and there are lots of better
albums out there. I would like to recommend Ikon's "This Quiet Earth"
instead.
