DISMANTLED
POST NUCLEAR
ALBUM DEPENDENT, METROPOLIS RELEASE: FEBRUARY 3, 2004 (USA), FEBRUARY 16, 2004 (EUROPE) REVIEW: FEBRUARY 16, 2004

Ignore the album title. Definitely ignore the lyrical content. This is the highly-anticipated new album by a project whose debut was nothing more than the FLA blueprint reguritated. "Post Nuclear" does not carve out any new territory but it does show an artist who is in search of his own identity. For this release, he has chosen to eschew FLA and has opted to investigate Mentallo and the Fixer, Numb and Skinny Puppy. Don't even try denying it.
Now I feel it my responsibility to forewarn you that if you hold this project in high esteem due to their creativity and/or imagination, you should not read any further. Dismantled is not a project which I look to for anything resembling originality. There is none there. However, there is an aggression and a burning need for attention which functions as the fire at both ends of the candle. "Post Nuclear" is light-years better than his god-awful debut. It will not restore my faith in so-called "industrial" music, but it does show me that there are artists out there who have the sense to know their strengths. One suggestion, however, lose the Reznor-like vocals. They are not doing your music any favours.
