FLUX
SAFE+SOUND
ALBUM ELECTRIC FANTASTIC SOUND RELEASE: MARCH, 2009 REVIEW: MAY 14, 2009

Finland hasn't exactly showered the world in their electronic music know-how, but here and there interesting acts have emerged. Flux is the latest find, picked up by Swedish label Electric Fantastic Sound. An angelic female voice and heavy electronics are the predominant features on "Safe+Sound".

It's clearly audible that members of fellow Finnish electropop band Neuroactive are the men behind the music of Flux, as their sound is distinctly electronic. A stark contrast to the clinical machinery is the vocal style by singer Asta, a young woman studying at the Sibelius Academy in Finland. Her delivery is flawless, yet surprisingly anonymous occasionally. Almost too perfect to make a lasting impression.

Single track "Protected" shows the band from their best side, giving full room to their pop sensibility and sound skills. A few more tracks like that and a couple of rather tedious instrumentals make up the content on "Safe+Sound". Go for the vocal tracks and then pick up the latest Neuroactive CD:s to hear these guys at their peak.
