GIRLS UNDER GLASS
EQUILIBRIUM
ALBUM HALL OF SERMON RELEASE: JUNE 21, 1999 REVIEW: JULY 13, 1999
This darkwave trio from Hamburg is back with a follow-up to their last full length album "Firewalker". "Equilibrium" is more romantic and less aggressive than its predecessor, and I like what I hear!
The material is good and, believe it or not, all songs are actually good! A couple of them remind me of typical goth metal. But there is a positive difference in the presence of electronic sounds and melodies. Girls under Glass is not a monotonous band and offers variety. The opening track "Roses of Death" is a great piece of work, despite the dorky title. The song is slow, beautiful and seductive. The last song I'm about to mention is my favourite "Is This the Place". It's a good representative for this album, since it's mid-tempo, has well arranged electronic sounds and production worthy of imitation.
There's not much more to say about this album. Girls under Glass gives us nine varied songs of high quality.
