INTERPOL
OUR LOVE TO ADMIRE

ALBUM EMI RELEASE: JULY 11, 2007 REVIEW: SEPTEMBER 6, 2007

Going from a sound very close to Joy Division, I find that American indie band Interpol has developed its own style on this album. It’s still melancholic guitar driven pop, but this time they have used keyboards as well, which makes the result more varied and atmospheric. Also, the connections to Joy Division are less pronounced.

“Our Love to Admire” opens strong with several memorable songs but after a while the album begins to blur for me and it’s a bit hard to keep it apart. It’s not bad by any means though, and the sad, angsty mood suits me fine.
