ALBUM SAMPLER MVG RELEASE: JUNE, 2003 REVIEW: JUNE 27, 2003

Kamera's debut single "At Work" effectively adopted the current Swedish retro electro trend, incorporating analogue synths in their wave mesh of pop and rock. It molded parts of Erasure with a Blur-styled chorus, reminding me a lot of the latter band's "Parklife" period.
We received a four-track taster of the upcoming album (due out this Autumn) not long ago, and it seems Kamera were even more diverse than I first expected. "Vertigo" starts off like a New Order-clone and continues like that all the way through, with the only distinctly unique feature being the strong voice of the vocalist. A catchy guitar driven trifle, no more and no less. "Fragile" shows more of the electronic foundation found in "At Work" (which is one of the four promo tracks by the way). Don't be surprised if this pop gem is released as a single soon. The final track "Suburban Boy", in its opening phase, conveys an atmosphere of what would be the result if The Ark and Chemical Brothers collaborated. It goes on to become more rock'n'roll in the refrain, where the tempo is raised significantly.
If you liked "At Work" you will probably be delighted to know that the other tracks on this sampler are just as good, or, like "Fragile", even better.
