LAKE OF TEARS
THE NEONAI
ALBUM BLACK MARK RELEASE: SEPTEMBER, 2002 REVIEW: OCTOBER 14, 2002

Solid bleeding riffs, quiet male vocals and mixed in with it all is that wondrously sick Swedish propensity to drench it with a chorus that sticks in your head. Lake of Tears has been around for ten years now and on this, their fifth album, they have apparently decided to really go as they say, power pop. This is not a metal album, this is not a goth album, what we have here is catchy and infectious as all get out.
A point of humour: the three members of this band all come from death metal backgrounds, hence the ironic context of this album. I find little wrong with the work they have done but the production needs a lot of help. They have some gems of songs which are just not given the full definition which would make them arena anthems and this is what I would assume this band is aspiring to.
All in all, a good work with some excellent hooks.
