LOWE
TENANT REMIXED
ALBUM HYPE RELEASE: JULY, 2007 REVIEW: AUGUST 17, 2007

"Tenant", Lowe's firstborn, spawned quite a few singles, all of which housed numerous remixes of varying quality. The same can be said for this seemingly redundant release. 21 reworkings on two discs may give value for your money, but is there really a need for "Tenant Remixed"?

The answer, as you could probably guess based on my grade, is yes. The overall impression is that most remixers have contributed inspiring takes of the Lowe gloom. There are a couple of versions that top the originals, like the Minerve mix of "Face to Face", Rupesh Cartel's electrifying boost of "My Song" and Ambra Red's Euro explosion on "Move Me". Russian electropop duo Emplosia also does commendable work on "The Vanishing", where they sing it themselves - in Russian mind you! People Theatre's retro-tinged interpretation of the same is also a high point, while some alterations would have been better off left on the hard drives they were saved on.

"Tenant Remixed" is, as could be expected, hit and miss, but with surprisingly few misses. Buy it to collect some good versions of already great pop songs. The last track, a gritty Lowe remix of the Elegant Machinery classic "Save Me", is further reason to act, as this is a limited edition of only 500 copies.
