MELOTRON
BRÜDER
EP BLOODLINE, SSC, PLAYGROUND RELEASE: NOVEMBER 5, 2001(GERMANY), MID NOVEMBER, 2001 (SCANDINAVIA) REVIEW: NOVEMBER 19, 2001

EP's and Melotron is a winning combination. "E.P.Sode 3", their last one, was delightful and now "Brüder" is actually marginally better. Dennis Osterman of In Strict Confidence pairs up with Andy Krüger in the title track to make it a catchy, dark club hit. Soundwise quite close to ISC's own "Kiss Your Shadow". Next up is Melotron's most perfect pop song to date, "Wohin (willst du gehen?)". When they are composing this kind of songs they are Germany's finest in the electropop field. Unbelievable infectious chorus, by the way.
Included also, is a beautiful blend of robotic vocals a la Kraftwerk and sliding melody lines in "Sie ist...", an up beat club-friendly dance number, "Weltenkonstrukteur" and the more aggressive outburst of "Idiotentest", with guitars and electronics intertwined. That makes five brand new tracks, all of which are various degrees of excellence. The remixes of "Brüder" and "Wohin" are also quite good, but consider them bonus. It's the original versions that make this into the undisputedly best EP of 2001.
