MORTHEM VLADE ART
ANTECHAMBER
ALBUM PANDAIMONIUM RELEASE: MAY 18, 2001 REVIEW: AUGUST 1, 2001

The ever-changing Morthem Vlade Art is back. Their new album is called "Antechamber" and it is very intriguing. They have moved to Berlin. The context is the 70's art pop and rock scene. 25 years ago they would probably hang with David Bowie and Iggy Pop, experimenting in various manners. Now, I guess, they are pretty alone and quite far from stardom.
This is one thing that builds up my hatred towards the modern society. This is one of those bands that should be stars. That should be revising, and developing, the new music. Today, in popular music, the letters art in artist has lost their meaning.
Nevertheless, there are some true artists out there and Morthem Vlade Art is one of them. Some of the songs on this album are fairly amazing and highly intellectual. "The Jealous Well" immediately caught my attention. Not to mention the beautiful "Counter Canter", in which the melody is a nicely done rip-off of Bronski Beat's "Smalltown Boy. I highly recommend "Antechamber" and thank all of those who still have the courage to be innovative and provoking.
