NEUROTICFISH
NO INSTRUMENTS
ALBUM VISION, SSC/PLAYGROUND RELEASE: OCTOBER 18, 1999 (SCANDINAVIA) REVIEW: NOVEMBER 3, 1999
Neuroticfish’s mixture of electropop and EBM is appealing to me. In fact, this
particular hybrid genre is. You take the softness from electropop, combine it
with the hardness from EBM and the result is really nice.
The soundscape consists of danceable beats,
traditional electropop vocals and synthesizer melodies. Some drum'n’bass
rhythms add the spot. There's not much to complain about. Even the singer’s
voice and his use of the English language are good!
The best songs on the album are the opening ”Close”
and the fast, hardhitting ”Skin”. Both are suitable for the dancefloor, as are
several other songs on the album.
This is a very promising debut and I look forward to
future releases. All of the tracks are actually strong, except for the boring
”Breaking the Cliché”.
