ALBUM PROPHECY RELEASE: JULY 5, 1999 REVIEW: SEPTEMBER 23, 1999
Yet another gothic metal release. Sigh, is there really a market for all
this gothic metal? Well, I just wish that all these metal bands could go
back to playing whatever they used to play. Actually, I find it sad that
all these pretentious bands are being connected with goth. This type of
music hasn't got anything to do with early goth bands like Siouxsie and
the Banshees and Virgin Prunes.
So, what does this sound like? Yes, you guessed right. The music has
the standard elements like heavy riffs, growling vocals and some
electronic sounds as well. One bad thing is the vocals, as usual. The
vocalist obviously has his roots too deep in the metal swamp.
It's not crap but it's pretty boring and feels uninspired. Maybe I'm
just tired of this type of music?
"Totentanz im Blut" is the highlight of this album. It is a relatively
calm song without the growling vocals. I guess it's damn good they
didn't print the lyrics...
