ALBUM VACUUM RELEASE: OCTOBER, 2001 REVIEW: DECEMBER 6, 2001

This is a really good ambient album, done in the way that perhaps Kraftwerk would have done it, if they were so inclined. Consisting only of instrumentals (except the odd robotic voice sample), all tracks here transport you to that other distant place which only ambient music can do. I also imagine that the French bloke Gilles Rossire, who is behind all this, has a black belt in the art of making hypnotic tunes. Your mind starts to wander off in different directions, before finally becoming totally focused on the music. But maybe that is just me.
Gilles also successfully makes funky ambient, a sorely missed genre. As I am writing this, my whole body is bobbing from side to side, listening to "Baby Boom". The album has got its fair share of soundscapes too, all nicely carried out, with slow drone noises and bleeps. Give it a listen.
