"Nu", a perky sibling to the 1995 album "Glad", embodies the Page philosophy nicely. All the way from "Alla som väntar" to the preppy Liquido cover "Min Drog" (originally "Narcotic"), the signature sound of the Swedish legends is overwhelmingly present. That is also the greatest weakness of the album as few new elements can be heard in this melodic pop mix. As good a songwriter as Eddie Bengtsson is, "Nu" relies slightly too much on old ideas. At the same time it is an infectious and superbly crafted synthpop album. Will it be their last? NIKLAS FORSBERG |
