PROJECT X
FORBIDDEN DESIRES
ALBUM ENERGY RELEASE: SEPTEMBER 21, 1999 REVIEW: SEPTEMBER 23, 1999
This is a pretty new Swedish band which has had a successful career so
far, with high chart positions in Germany.
The music is very much an Evil's Toy rip off. It's well done, but there's
one problem. The vocals are sometimes ropey. They are alright at best.
It doesn't come as a surprise that these guys are looking for a new
vocalist, because they definitely need that.
Another thing I want to
advertise the loss of, is songs with more hit-potential. But of course, we
have the single track "Fearless", and the superb "Double-Faced Society"
which is perfectly suitable for an EBM dancefloor. I must say that I am
really fond of the last mentioned track with its very nice synthetic
loops and high BPM.
To conclude: this is an OK album with some nice tunes. The music is good
throughout the entire album, but the vocals are not. Actually, I think
this would've been much better with distorted Funker Vogt-like vocals.
It's an old trick to hide crappy vocals so why not use it?
