Rotersand is a successful new constellation consisting of Rasc, Gun and Krischan (although with a past as 1AM). Rasc has a background with The Fair Sex, a fact that shows a little in the music, but not that much actually. Rotersand makes heavy, catchy, electronic dance music with quite a lot of style. Some of it might be considered close to futurepop. But this is more than that. “The Fire” grabs me with its monotone bass, dance-inducing beats and a chorus that screams “hit”. Other memorable tracks are for example the ferocious “Social Distortion” and the club hit single “Merging Oceans”. The album also includes some ballads, but they appear weak compared the other compositions. Even though all tracks are pretty varied, everyone doesn’t catch on as much, but this is still a very solid first effort and I bet the next album will be even better. JOHAN CARLSSON |
