SD6 BETWEEN NOISE AND TRANSMISSION ALBUM 23DB RELEASE: JANUARY 30, 2007 REVIEW: FEBRUARY 7, 2007

SD6 is a new band from Seattle, consisting of Brandon Jerwa, Jessica Blackshear and Nicole Edmonds. I guess electronic pop is a simple but good description of the music, and they do a quite nice job of it too. The album is tightly produced by Tom Shear, also known as Assemblage 23, but it doesn’t really sound like his own material, which I guess is a testament to his skills.

It took me a while to appreciate “Between Noise and Transmission”, but it gets better and better. It’s certainly no masterpiece, and has its ups and downs. But if you like modern, melodic electropop it should do you good.
