SISTA MANNEN PÅ JORDEN TREDJE VÅNINGEN ALBUM ENERGY RELEASE: JUNE 8 , 2007 REVIEW: AUGUST 8, 2007

I remember hearing about this new Sista mannen på jorden album purely by accident. It seemed to appear out of nowhere, lacking a proper backing by the record label. Considering the obvious talent of Eddie Bengtsson (especially when working under the SMPJ moniker), this is quite saddening as "Tredje våningen" treats us to another great space journey.

Building on familiar concepts, this new album adds sound variety and crisp production, courtesy of new side kick Christer Hermodsson (S.P.O.C.K, Biomekkanik, And One). His studio skills have boosted the SMPJ sound to new heights. More atmospheric in nature and less direct pop songs make "Tredje våningen" a bit more abstract than past albums, but not less enjoyable. "Släcka månen (du får inte glömma)" and "Sekunder" are two sides of a band now more mature and confident.

Sista mannen på jorden may have entered a new phase with "Tredje våningen". The professionalism of Hermodsson paired with Bengtsson's song writing and potent vocals will possibly result in more material in the future. This is definitely the space pop album of the year.
