SOPHYA
THE AGE OF SOPHYA
ALBUM PANDAIMONIUM RELEASE: SUMMER, 2000 REVIEW: JULY 3, 2000
This is a band, which was discovered by Ronny Moorings, head of Clan of Xymox. "The
Age of Sophya" is the Israeli band's debut album.
The music is typical darkwave in Projekt style. Projekt is the label, which have
released stuff from bands like Black Tape for a Blue Girl and Lycia. This is
smooth and beautiful music with mostly female vocals creating an emotional
atmosphere as well as spreading calmness. The female vocalist, Sonja Rozenblum,
has a very comfortable voice, which she knows how to use!
"Inner Station" is probably my favourite song on this album. It has something
extra which distinguishes it from the rest, although the entire album is of high
quality. The major problem with this kind of music is that I tend to get a bit
drowsy after a while, but it's great when you want to sleep or just take it
really easy. Or why not use it as background music when enjoying a fine dinner and a glass
of wine?
