S.P.O.C.K
WHERE ROCKETS FLY
SINGLE SSC, BLOODLINE RELEASE: NOVEMBER 20, 2000 REVIEW: NOVEMBER 27, 2000

The message is clear: S.P.O.C.K is no longer an in-joke among synth pop and Star Trek geeks. The business is turning serious. The tracks on "Where Rockets Fly" are more pompous and dramatic than ever, and the Klingons and all the others have all been thrown out in favour of nostalgic remembrances of the olden, golden space age.
On "Utopia" the charmingly out-of-tune Mr Android has even been replaced at the mike by the more operatic Johan "Yo-Haan" Malmgren reminiscing about lost worlds, and everything starts smelling like Vacuum. Well produced and grandiose, but absolutely, definitely not S.P.O.C.K. Who knows where this band is going next?
The title song quickly gets stuck in your head with its cheery chorus, though "When We Were Humans", would have worked just as well, if not better, as the main song on this single.
Who would have thought S.P.O.C.K would ever get this professional?
