It seems that there is an endless amount of angry American metal bands. Substance D is yet another one, and like so many others they try on a so called industrial angle. I say so called, since they don't display many similarities with either the seventies wave of British and German industrial bands, or the later, more rock oriented one. Substance D are much closer to the crappy metal of Korn than to blazing Ministry productions. And just like with Korn, I simply can't stand this. The anger feels forced and the music is totally free from nuances. That it keeps going for over 70 minutes doesn't make things better. Avoid. KRISTOFFER NOHEDEN |
