"Nostalgia"?
Well, maybe a little. The Mobile Homes have more or less been forced to
slide back to their more electronic roots, with the letdown of their last
pop/rock album. Their live performance at the SAMA this year
made me think they'd be pursuing that path on forthcoming releases. They had a traditional instrument setting on stage including guitar and drums. But luckily I was wrong.
"Nostalgia" sounds like an updated version of the old days and
the fans, if there are any left, will surely take this to their hearts.
I did too, I must admit. It may not be as catchy as their older material
and there are still some, well hidden, guitars, but it's almost as good,
which is an accomplishment in itself. Two versions of "Nostalgia"
and the extra track "No Matter What" in the same style, but
not quite as impressive, leave me thirsty for more. I'll have to wait
until March and their new album "The World Will Listen" to see
if the Mobile Homes have enough ideas to fill a full length.
