TYSKARNA FRÅN LUND
DIE QUELLE
ALBUM SSC, PLAYGROUND RELEASE: NOVEMBER 17, 2004 REVIEW: DECEMBER 1, 2004

The four Germanised pranksters from southern Sweden have lost some of their irresistible charm this time. The composing team have started juggling with pretentiously crafted lo-fi electro, boosting nothing but the level of boredom of "Die Quelle". The debut was hilariously naïve; at times genuine quality paired with moments of shameless amateurism. Much of the comedy of "Metamorphobia" has been replaced by meaningless house cluttered trifles on "Die Quelle".
While the rare mix of languages still makes up the lyrics, this occasionally feels like a completely different band. The first few tracks, like "Liebe" and its Van Halen-esque synth melody or the catchy EBM suited "Electric Cowboy", help save the album from the depths of total oblivion, but from there on the quirky, twisted ways that were once the trademarks of Tyskarna från Lund are painfully absent.
Back to the clown suits, please!
