Marc Verhaeghen and Dirk Ivens debuted the seminal band The Klinik in Belgium in 1985, and continued to release several influential albums with their particular brand of monotone, experimental industrial. They split up in 1991, but decided to get back together for some gigs around 2003. Then nothing happened, until now. They’re finally back with a new album, so we decided it was time for an interview.

According to a recent video where Vince Clarke interviews Andy Bell (“The Small Chair Interview”), the synthpop duo is working on a Christmas album due out this winter. They’re currently holed up in Vince’s studio in Brooklyn, New York, where they’ve been working on both their own Christmas songs, and some Christmas standards.
After the excellent “Airmech” soundtrack, it seemed like we had a revitalized Front Line Assembly on our hands. The band went into the studio again to work on a new “proper” FLA album, and now we’re getting close to the result. Bill Leeb, Jeremy Inkel, Jared Slingerland and newcomers Craig Johnsen and Sasha Keevil all seem very excited by this release they’re calling “Echogenetic”, and are aiming for a July release. Norway’s own Gothminister are back again with their fourth album of hard hitting industrial metal. Gothminister will release “Utopia” via AFM Records on May 17, and the album deals with the schizophrenic existance of band leader Bjørn Alexander Brem who is working as a lawyer by day and transforms into the Gothminister by night. Scottish electronica outfit Boards of Canada haven’t released new music since 2006, when “Trans Canada Highway EP” came out. They’ve finally returned with the track “Reach for the Dead” in preparation for the album “Tomorrow’s Harvest” which is out on Warp Records June 10. Check it out after the jump.
