British synthpop artist Robert Marlow passed away on Thursday, September 22, after a short period of unexpected illness.
Marlow was a part of the Basildon set, played in punkrock band The Vandals with Alison Moyet as early as 1977 and then in various bands and projects, including the duo Marlow in the 2000:s. But it’s the early 80:s recordings together with Vince Clarke that made him famous in synthpop circles. He released four singles back then and the album “The Peter Pan Effect” that he recorded with Clarke was not released until 1999 by the Swedish Energy Rekords.
