Celebrating their 25th anniversary this year, Sonar Barcelona are planning to send more tracks into space.
The festival, which will be held between 14th and 16th June, are sending a second transmission to Luytens Sra b on 14, 15 and 16 May – which will include tracks by Alva Noto, Squarepusher and Daedelus amongst others. The planet is believed to be potentially life supporting, and the broadcasts are an attempt to communicate with life on other planets, in collaboration with Catalunya’s IEEC.
There will also be an artistic installation at the Barcelona festival, detailing the project – as well as the plethora of acts set to bring in the 25th anniversary celebrations. These will include Alva Noto & Ryuichi Sakamoto, Bonobo, Cornelius, Gorillaz, LCD Soundsystem and Thom Yorke amongst many others. Tickets are on sale now.
