Bowie album on the net two weeks prior to standard release
Good, old David Bowie is not the first, but it's still a pretty new phenomenon. We're talking about selling albums digitally over the Internet prior to the CD release. On September 21, two weeks before the official release date, the new album "Hours" will be downloadable for normal CD price. /Mikael KahrleSaft's new single is here

On September 6, pop duo Saft's new single "Går in som gud" was released. It's a housepop song designed to promote the forthcoming, second album "3-2-1". A video for the song has been shot. /Mikael KahrlePrimal Scream have completed new album
Primal Scream recently finished the recordings of the follow up to the 1997
album "Vanishing Point". It will be released early next year, but a single
should be out this autumn. On the new album, Primal Scream have collaborated
with among others The
Chemical Brothers, David Holmes and Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine. /Kristoffer NohedenThis edition's Manson entry...
Marilyn Manson will record the song "Astonishing Panorama of the End Times" for the season's finale of the comic clay show "Celebrity Deathmatch" on MTV. Mr Manson claims to be a fan of the show, even though he is made fun of. A healty sign indeed, that he can laugh about himself. /Mikael KahrleSyntec alive again
The winter of 1999 marks the return of one of Germany's
synth-/technopop duos, Syntec. Or trio, to be exact. The reincarnation of
the band features a new member, a second keyboardplayer.
Syntec released two
albums and three singles on Machinery Records before they took a break. A new single is to be
released later this year, though the band hasn't signed with a new label
yet. Their third album is being worked on as we speak. /Niklas ForsbergCovenant's new album delayed
The release of the new Covenant album, "United States of Mind" has been moved about half a year. Here's a statement from the band:
"We and our labels have decided to delay the release of our next album "United States of Mind" until early the year 2000. As
a result of this delay the planned European tour in November has been cancelled. Covenant would like to apologize for this
and assure you all that the only reason is to make the best possible album and tour. We promise our fans the best Covenant
album yet and an album that will set a new standard in this style of music. The first post-millenium chapter is being
written at this very moment.
We also want to thank all the wonderful people that helped make our summer festivals this
year memories for life and we hope you had as much fun as we had! Let's continue to grow in mutual respect and care!
Peace and love to all our sisters and brothers!" /Mikael KahrleCoil to release yet another album
As we reported earlier, Coil claim to have completed the album "Backwards"
that they recorded for Trent Reznor's Nothing label. When this will be
released is not set yet, but another new Coil album should be out in
October. Entitled "Astral Disaster", the album was originally released earlier this year, in a
limited edition of 99 LP:s. The material will be remixed
for the new CD release. /Kristoffer NohedenFirst NIN TV performance this year
As earlier reported, Nine Inch Nails - and Moby - are two of the live acts at thursday's marathon MTV Video Music Awards. /Mikael KahrleNew releases from Distain! and Silence
Two Chrom Records electropop bands have finished their latest works, German Distain! and Slovenian Silence.
The
new Silence album, "Unlike a Virgin", is to be released on September 10 and
the sound is said to be somewhat harder than their debut "Ma Non Troppo".
Electropop trio Distain! released their new single "Tears of Joy" (a
track from their latest album "Homesick Alien" in a new version) on
September 4. It features remixes by wellknown producer Gareth Jones
(Depeche Mode) and two brand new tracks. /Niklas ForsbergYazoo best of released
On September 6, the Yazoo best of "Only Yazoo" was released by Mute Records. Some time ago the single "Only You" showed up, with a 99 version of the classic as well as a Todd Terry dance mix of "Don't Go" and the ballad "Winter Kills". This will surely secure Yazoo's disco dance floor position into the next millennium. /Mikael KahrleThe latest on Rammstein
Rammstein will soon enter the studio with producer Jakob Hellener, to work on a new album scheduled for a 2000 spring release. Singer Till Lindeman has now recovered enough from his serious crash on the Autobahn this summer.
The pressure is high, since the band has sold three million albums. And for example, the super-German band has managed to sell 100 000 copies in Mexico.
On August 30, the album "Live aus Berlin" was released (see review). The first 5 000 copies came in a limited edition double CD with extra live tracks and CD-R live video clips. The album was recorded one year ago, in front of 40 000 fans during two performances home in Berlin. On September 13, there will be a video and DVD release of the very same concert. /Mikael KahrleOne of this year's most interesting goth releases
